Band Member Joins A Cappella Group, Makes New, Different Noises

LINCOLN HALL—Fall semester is a time of change for many students looking to abandon their old personalities like a shriveled, molted skin. For Mikey Linderman ‘27, this meant leaving behind his bonk-honking band family for a new hum-bumming a cappella family.

“When I was a freshman, I was enticed by those seductive bing-bongs and wump-wumps, but by now I’ve had my fill of squeak-squonks. I’m ready for something more sophisticated,” explained ex–band member Linderman.

Many students identify band and a cappella as some of the most auditorily obnoxious organizations on campus, and some wonder what possibly could have made Linderman swap between these similarly sickening sonic societies.

When asked about what drew him to his a cappella family, Linderman answered, “They nabbed me in the dead of night and made noises at me in the dark. Exciting, fun noises like whah-wah-wahh and bop-doo-bah-dah. And then they had me sign away my soul. It was the best time!”

At press time, Linderman’s former bandmates were found lamenting his departure with a chorus of sorrowful whoomp-womps.
