Fun Aunt Put Marshmallows in Hers

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y.—Reporting that she “just couldn’t help herself,” local aunt Shelby Gallagher put marshmallows in her sweet potato casserole this Thanksgiving. Gallagher, known to her family as the “fun aunt,” retains this title through similar antics, like bringing pumpkin spice-flavored whipped cream to dinner last year.

“It’s not every day you get the chance to put marshmallows on a vegetable and call it food,” Gallagher said, as she nuked a jar of marshmallow fluff in the microwave.

The aunt’s culinary choices initially impressed the Thanksgiving table, who remarked on her ingenuity. Recently, however, the Gallagher family has become increasingly uncomfortable with her creative liberties, with dishes such as “marsh-ed potatoes” and “baked marsh & cheese” proving unpopular.

“We all agreed that Grandma’s turkey was a bit dry last year,” said Devin Gallagher, the fun aunt’s brother. “But was lathering it in marshmallow topping really the best solution?”

As dinner approached, family members appeared disgusted as they watched Gallagher attempt to empty a bag of Jet-Puffed jumbo marshmallows into the turkey.
