Wasian Student Association To Host Mixer

HO PLAZA—The newly established Wasian Student Association announced their first mixer last weekend via mediocre multicultural Canva graphic on their Instagram page. Students of both white and Asian heritage are invited to intermingle over their shared identity descending from the nation of Wasia while enjoying staples of Wasian delicacy—orange chicken, California rolls, and avocado milk tea.

“It’s an inclusive opportunity to connect over the unifying struggle of having to check two boxes when disclosing ethnicity on a job application.” WSA Social Chair Jasmine Smith ‘26 provided her insights. “Whenever a form only lets me select one race and not both, I’m completely stumped!”

Mei Wilson ‘29 began to spiral over whether or not she was fit to attend, “I’m only 50% Wasian since my dad is fully white and my mom is half Chinese, so if you round down I guess I’m just white.” WSA DEI Chair Takeshi Cooper ‘27 was quick to clarify that is not the case, remarking that even single-race students could contribute to the cross-cultural spirit of the event.

“Monoracial students are also welcome, as long as they bring a +1 of a different race,” remarked Cooper. “We encourage campus Wasians of all backgrounds and proportions to participate, whether you are Korean-French, Chinese-Irish, or even Swiss-Kazakh!”

To boost attendance, the first 50 qualifying Wasians through the door that actually know how to use chopsticks will receive a free AncestryDNA test kit.
