Halloween Enthusiast Disappointed by Ithaca Wine & Spirits

COLLEGETOWN—A fortnight before All Hallows’ Eve, Jack Murray, local Halloween enthusiast and self-proclaimed “ghostbuster,” felt his paranormal-sensing abilities pull him towards Ithaca Wine & Spirits. Murray reported feeling a shiver down his spine, which “couldn’t have possibly been” from the cold air of an Ithaca autumn night.

“I thought the combination of alcohol and ghosts was strange, but the place literally has ‘spirits’ in the name. There’s nothing else that could possibly mean!” Murray recounted.

He further claimed that what seemed like unassuming bottles were actually containers for spirits: “Why else would the bottles have the names ‘Brandy,’ ‘Tito,’ and ‘Jose Cuervo’?” With the hope that, perchance, he’d be able to summon the spirits, Murray bought one of each bottle with a name on it, lit precisely thirteen candles, chanted a prayer, and… nothing. “Terrible disappointment,” he lamented.

However, Murray still possesses a glimmer of hope that the store, as advertised, is haunted. After he drank from each bottle in an attempt to get closer to the spirits, he felt “dizzy and woozy- an out-of-body experience which could only be explained by the possession of ghosts.”
