Fourth Info Session Paints Club in Totally New Light

GOLDWIN SMITH HALL—With ClubFest around the corner, Cornell’s on-campus organizations have already begun the frantic race to recruit the newest crop of bright, eager young minds. Veteran students know that this is a marathon, not a sprint; lengthy application processes reward only the most determined, tenacious, and desperate candidates.

Alpha Zeta Delta Pre-Business Fraternity has already held several information sessions for potential new members. The label ‘Pre-Business’ or ‘Pre-Law’ might seem straightforward, but the reality is that these organizations are multi-dimensional—the full suite of advantages cannot be elucidated in just one presentation. “In the third info session they said if we came to the fourth info session, we would get free candy,” explained Brian Zhang ‘29. “But I’m here and there’s no candy.”

Applicants are encouraged to attend every event to learn as much about the organization as possible. Caroline Lewis ‘28 walked out of the fourth information session after the President stated their commitments to philanthropy, diversity, and ethics. “I assumed they were committed to philanthropy, diversity, and integrity, like everyone else,” she said. “I can’t do this in good faith.”

Alpha Zeta Delta maintains that these information sessions are a crucial part of differentiating themselves from the many other pre-professional societies on campus. “Our goal is to highlight the unique professional connections and career pathways that become available through joining our organization,” said Co-Vice President of Recruitment Claire Parsons ‘26. “Like the opportunity to network with members of E-board.”
