18-Year-Old’s Passion for Synergy Really Comes Through in Club Application

WARREN HALL—Club recruitment season is in full swing, and the members of Optimus Prime Consulting are hard at work determining which recent high school graduates move on to the next stage of the 15-phase application process. Recruitment Chair Andrew Trask ’27 points to one application as an example of a particularly effective candidate.

The essay responses, frequently including em dashes for grammatical clarity, really conveyed the applicant’s longtime dedication to leveraging cross-departmental synergy to maximize long-term value. “I, too, discovered my love for implementing scalable solutions for sustained efficiency through student council,” Trask says.

The Optimus Prime recruitment team was also impressed by the candidate’s consistent attendance at the various recruitment events, like information sessions 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, the internship panel, the externship panel, the séance, and the resume review.

“When I coffee chatted him we had a lot of similar interests, like gaming and lifting,” recalled member Bobby Samford ’28. “I also talked about my NME project harnessing data-driven strategies for organizational alignment, and he was like, ‘that’s so cool,’ which really showed me he had that spark.”

Given his obvious commitment to mapping workflows to identify pain points and opportunities for improvement, it’s clear Ethan Trask ’29 has what it takes to be an industry transformer.
