LYNAH RINK—Big Red Men’s Ice Hockey’s 4–1 loss to Union College was a relief for Interim President Michael Kotlikoff, who has faced criticism for a recent statement regarding the University’s ongoing negotiations with Cornell Graduate Students United (CGSU).
“The notion that Cornell engages in ‘Union busting’ is ridiculous,” Kotlikoff wrote in an email sent shortly after the game. “Tonight, Union repeatedly engaged in bad faith with Cornell representatives, even tripping, hooking, and slashing them. Indeed, numerous infractions were severe enough to warrant the incarceration of Union representatives. This is unacceptable behavior, and is just one reason why Cornell does not agree with many of Union’s goals.
“In the end, however, Union won. If anything, they busted us. We accept the Union victory and look forward to continued productive interactions with them, as required by law and in accordance with Cornell’s core values.”
At press time, Proskauer Rose LLP had issued a cease and desist letter to the Union College Men’s Ice Hockey Team.
