History Professor Displaced by McGraw Renovation Hosts Office Hours at West Campus Frat House Darty

WEST CAMPUS—The McGraw Hall renovations this semester have forcibly relocated much of the History Department. One faculty member, Professor Williams, has responded to the relocation by taking up temporary residence at a nearby fraternity house on West Campus.

Several months since the move, Williams seems to have assimilated into the fraternity’s culture: participating in traditions, attending mixers, and occasionally assisting with Social Chair duties. “When in Rome!” Williams shrugged before jumping onto–and breaking–a plastic folding table during a one-on-one meeting with his Honors Thesis advisee.

Williams’ habitation is the result of a questionable deal struck between himself and the fraternity’s Risk Manager Nick Garrison ’26. “Prof’s mad chill. A few guys are taking his class on South American Counterculture Through Dance and he said if we let him use The Swamp1, he’d give us all As,” explained Garrison. “He can come to parties but he’s not allowed to talk to any of the freshman girls because that’s for the senior guys to do.”

Some students in Williams’ classes have expressed negative feelings regarding the arrangement. “I originally thought nothing of him saying he was hosting office hours ‘Friday after Class,’ but it’s proving to be very inconvenient and, frankly, unprofessional,” complained Ashley Ramirez ’25 who often is prohibited from entering the building on account of her inability to name five brothers.
