Esteemed NYT Crossword Clue Rita Ora to Headline Slope Day

WILLARD STRAIGHT HALL—The Slope Day Programming Board has announced esteemed New York Times crossword clue Rita Ora will headline Slope Day. The vowel-heavy, classic three letter last name singer-songwriter will be welcomed to campus by puzzle aficionados and mini crossword lovers alike.

With hits such as “Rita of pop music” or “British feature on Iggy Azalea’s only song”, Ora’s Slope Day is sure to be a smashing success. The star of the NYT Games Section was selected after a lengthy process in the hopes of pleasing all members of the student body, including those who use auto-check.

Slope Day Programming Board President Gabriella Marche ‘26 gave some insight on the selection process. “We searched across and down to find the right fit for Slope Day this year,” she explained. “We didn’t want someone too off the grid.”

Nonetheless, some students expressed reservations with the artist choice. “I was honestly a bit puzzled by the selection,” noted Ciara Williams ‘25. “Then I realized, she’s the perfect combination of concise and consonant-light, two of my biggest priorities on the Slope Day Preferences Google Form.”

It seems like Ora has already looked to start playing more festivals amid her selection as lead Slope Day artist. The treasured clue tweeted on Monday: “Headlining Coachella if this gets 100,000 retweets.”
