Daily Sun Writers Reporting from Sochi Faced with Poor Hotel Conditions

SOCHI- The Cornell Daily Sun’s Winter Olympics coverage team has confirmed that they are experiencing unsanitary and even dangerous living conditions at their Olympic Village accommodations. “The sheets are dirty, the furniture is falling apart, and the water is unfit to drink,” reported Shirley Haverford, senior sports correspondent for the Sun and head of a nearly 60 person team sent to cover the Games. “Our block of 23 rooms is at the Sochi Marriott, though I’ve heard similar complaints from talking to our colleagues at CNN and NBC staying at other hotels.” Daily Sun officials noted that this unpleasant experience would not prevent them from sending large teams of reporters, cameramen, producers, and technicians to cover future events overseas and around the world.
